Our Maine Coons are imported from Russia and have been extensively tested before being allowed to breed.
Our Maine Coons are on the larger side.
Our Maine Coon kittens are TICA and CFA registered
They are sold with a spay/neuter contract, no breeding rights. We do not believe ESN (early spay and neuter) is the best for our kittens health.
Our kittens go home at 12 weeks.
Our breeding cats have been DNA tested via Optimal Selection and all are clear of any genetic disease indicators, parasites and FeLV/FIV negative. They all have clear echocardiograms performed by a licensed cardiologist to rule out HCM, and clear x-rays to rule out hip and patella dysplasia.
Our Maine Coon kittens - pricing starts at $3200
What do our babies come with? https://curiouscolorfulchaoscattery.com/babies-go-home-package
Every animal in our care is FeLV & FIV negative. The health and happiness of our animals are our primary focus.
Maine Coon cats weigh between 10 to 25 pounds. Male maine coon cats weigh between 15 to 25 pounds (about 6.8 to 11kg), while Female maine coons average 10 to 15 pounds (about 4.5 to 6.8 kg). Their large, rectangular-built body shape and long hair make them even bigger. Maine Coon cats slowly mature and are not considered an adult until they’re between three to five years old.
A reputable Maine Coon breeder will have genetic tests performed on all of her breeding cats to screen for these genetic defects prior to breeding them. In the Maine Coon, these are the common genetic tests that should be performed.
Dominant blue eyes is a highly controversial topic. My page is here for education and not a debate platform, I will always welcome educated communication on this topic. There is a few studies that have been done. I have personally read a great portion of the studies. The studies provide a great deal of insight into syndromes and problems that have occurred. As with all animals, all breeds, if non educated breeding occurs syndromes, deaths and defects can occur. Mutations and evolution have occurred in all species throughout the years. The studies I have read, focus on small sample sizes, very few catteries, single lines, and homozygous breeding complications. All of this research it very needed and necessary, I feel it is just the tip of the research needed. Much more needs to be completed. I do believe some breeders took the information and applied it to an absolute standard and then started to assault other breeders. I challenge everyone to educate yourselves, ask all the questions you desire and be proactive in your search for your forever companion.
I have completed so much testing on Maine Coons (most non dominant blue eyes) that did not pass my standards on health (they looked gorgeous and beautiful on the outside). I refuse to knowingly bring any life into this world with any problems that can be prevented. I have paid funds for cats and their testing in breeders homes who I vetted for months, just to find out everything was fabricated and the animal passed away. A needless life lost. Heart Breaking.
There are alot of breeders who do this as a form of income. I have a career. This hobby started because my children kept getting attached to animals that were ill, and their hearts were breaking. There needed to be a place where someone who wants to get a pedigreed cat/kitten could do so from an ethical breeder who is trying to create healthy kittens. There are a handful of like minded breeders like myself in the world, in my journey we are the minority. So please be careful and research and ask questions.
What makes Us different....
All of our beautiful Kings and Queens are FIV/FELV/FIV negative.
PCRs, fecals are preformed continuously.
We also run a completely closed cattery to prevent any exposure. Any animal that comes into the cattery is in quarantine for months.
Hip and Patella x-rays are taken and evaluated professionally.
Echocardiograms are preformed and evaluated professionally.
All of our adults and kittens are evaluated and vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian. e -
Zeus (DBE) BAER testing (preventative- he has no hearing abnormalities).
*PAX gene testing
These are just a summary of the testing I do.
We do not over bred our girls. Every breeding is done , if the queen wants to. I have found not all males and females are compatible socially. Nothing is forced.
* My Cats mental and physical health is number one.
* If a mom has problems, or does not want to be a mother we do not breed.
* We do not breed with a history of illnesses (even if cured). Examples: Mammary
Hyperplasia, FIP - although we have never had), even if cured, we DO NOT Breed those
girls.
* We do not breed DBE to DBE. or DBE to latent DBE lines. THIS is where the human
Waardenburg syndrome type 1 (*controversy*) studies provide information. .
* We Test Mate and strive for 0% inbreeding.
We never have more litters than we can care for. Each newly born kitten is weighed twice a day and cared for accordingly.
All of our cats litter is cleaned twice a day, we use the breeze litter system so that urine and stool can be monitored daily. Nails are clipped weekly, eyes, ears and noses are checked daily. Cats are brushed at least weekly, and teeth are brushed 2-3 times a week and vetradent spray is used in between. They have access to dry food at all times, fresh water in clean bowls daily, and wet food every night for dinner.
This is not ALL we do , just an idea of some of the things we do.
