Thank you for considering a Maine Coon kitten from Curious Colorful Chaos Cattery. Maine Coons are affectionate, intelligent, and playful cats that make wonderful companions. To ensure that each kitten finds the best possible home, we follow a thorough yet simple adoption process.
Step 1: Initial Inquiry
- Submit an Application: Begin by filling out our Purchase Application form. This helps us learn about you, your family, and your experience with pets.
- Application Review: We review each application carefully to ensure that our kittens are placed in safe, loving homes that can meet their unique needs.
Step 2: Interview (Optional)
- Phone or Video Chat: Depending on your application, we may schedule a short call to talk through your lifestyle and answer questions.
- Home Visit (Optional): For first-time cat owners or special circumstances, we may suggest a home visit to confirm a safe environment.
Step 3: Kitten Selection
- Kitten Profiles: Since we run a closed cattery, families receive detailed photos and profiles of available kittens.
- Matching Process: Based on your preferences and the kittens’ personalities, we help guide you toward the kitten that best suits your family.
Step 4: Contract Agreement
- Cattery Contract: Once you decide on a kitten, we’ll ask you to review and sign our Kitten Contract. This agreement outlines health guarantees, care expectations, and spay/neuter requirements.
Step 5: Deposit
- Reservation Deposit: A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your kitten. Payment can be made through Venmo or Zelle.
- Balance at Pickup: The remaining balance is due in cash at the time of pickup or before transport.
Step 6: Preparing for Your Kitten
- Home Setup: Before bringing your kitten home, prepare a quiet, safe space with bedding, food and water bowls, toys, and a litter box.
- Veterinary Planning: Schedule a first vet visit within the first few weeks to establish care and review your kitten’s vaccination and health records.
Step 7: Pickup or Transport
- Pickup in Tennessee: Families may meet us in safe, public locations.
- Transport Options: For long-distance families, we offer trusted ground couriers or in-cabin flight nanny services (never cargo).
- Starter Kit: Each kitten goes home with a small starter kit including food, a toy, and a blanket with familiar scents.
Step 8: Lifetime Support
- Follow-Up: We check in after adoption to ensure your kitten is adjusting well.
- Stay Connected: We love receiving updates, stories, and photos as your kitten grows. Once you adopt from us, you’re part of our Curious Colorful Chaos family for life.
