Our Process to Bring Home a Maine Coon Kitten
We know that adding a Maine Coon kitten to your family is a big decision. At Curious Colorful Chaos Cattery, we’ve created a clear process to make it safe, transparent, and stress-free for both you and the kitten.
Step 1: Explore & Learn
Start by browsing our Available Kittens page. There, you’ll see updates, photos, and sometimes videos of our current litters. We encourage you to also visit our Our Maine Coons page and blog to learn about our breeding program, health testing, and the care we provide.
Step 2: Submit an Application
When you’re ready, fill out our online kitten application. This helps us understand your home environment, lifestyle, and expectations. Our goal is to make sure each kitten is matched with the right family.
Step 3: Connect With Us
Once we review your application, we’ll reach out to schedule a phone call or video chat. This is a great time for you to ask questions and for us to share more about the kitten’s personality and needs. Transparency is important—we want you to feel confident every step of the way.
Step 4: Place a Reservation
To reserve a kitten, we require a $500 non-refundable deposit. This ensures your chosen kitten is held for you until pick-up. All deposits are applied toward the final purchase price.
Step 5: Watch Your Kitten Grow
From the time you reserve until pickup, we’ll keep you updated with photos, videos, and milestone check-ins. You’ll get to watch your kitten grow from tiny wobbles to playful energy, knowing they’re being raised with love and socialization in our home.
Step 6: Final Veterinary Exam & Preparation
Before going home, each kitten receives:
- A licensed veterinary exam
- Age-appropriate vaccinations
- Deworming treatments
- Microchip identification
- Complete health records
We also send your kitten home with a starter kit that includes food, toys, and familiar scents to ease the transition.
Step 7: Pickup Day
Kittens are ready to go home around 12 weeks of age. Pickup is usually in Nashville, Tennessee, or at a mutually agreed location. Families must pay the remaining balance in cash at this time.
Step 8: Lifelong Support
Our relationship doesn’t end on pickup day. We provide ongoing support for questions about feeding, grooming, health, and socialization. Many families stay in touch for years, and we love receiving updates as our kittens grow.
